Tagle

The tangle has a life of its own – it gives of itself. Seeds give way to the growth which is charted in the marks made on the page. The organic manifesting itself in the energy of the universe. Out of its heart comes growth, evolution. Reaching up... Digging down... roots and shoots...

The complexity of the organism evolving with time.

Be gentle...

As I wrap up the school year and begin to transition into "summer mode" I find myself feeling the least tormented by the change. Perhaps it is that I let go of some serious responsibility at work... Or maybe it is my commitment to honestly making marks EVERYDAY. Actually I think more than anything it is my commitment to this one idea. Be Gentle.

Make no mistake the summer ahead is filled with hard work and needs careful planning to wrap up all the lose ends from sabbatical and hang my show in September. But as it creeps in I try to let my mantra wrap around me like my favorite blanket - Be Gentle. So Simple.

What did you make today?

We have the power in a few minutes or a few hours each day to use our gifts to honor ourselves and those we love. Sitting here at my daughters practice I wondered why I don't make it a point to make something everyday... So I ask you - what did you make today?

Thought At Work

Hello Everyone!  On October 24th-26th, I attended the fifth annual student design conference Thought at Work at the Rochester Institute of Technology.  This unique design conference was created by design students at RIT to bridge the gap between students and professionals.

Jason White, the executive creative director and co-founder at Leviathan, a conceptual design company that creates engaging narrative content and experiences for brands and entertainers worldwide, was the captivating keynote speaker.

In addition I heard from inspiring professionals such as industrial designer Patty Johnson, LookThink President Joe Mallek, lead designer of Imgix Miguel Cardona, and interactive art director at Dumbwaiter Matt Olpinski.

Do it ANYWAY!!!!

There are many designers that I admire. One of my very favorites is David Carson, you can learn more about him here:

This is a quote that if your searching for a mantra this  might just be it...

His work was ground breaking, he broke the rules in the name of creative expression... He is one of the most authentic humans I have ever studied... I hope one day to see him speak! I think that the reason I was and still am so smitten with his design aesthetic is that he creates design based on his beliefs and instinct...
